"Dog Days of Summer" Officially Come to a Close Today

Today, Monday, August 11, is the last day of the 40-day period known as "The Dog Days of Summer" in the Northern Hemisphere. It lasts from July 3 through August 11 and includes the 20 days before and 20 days after the alignment of Sirius, the dog star, with the Sun.
